Dear Friend,

Wow!

The last week has been absolutely incredible; while recent developments in the fight for marriage equality have dominated the news, what's happening in the Midwest is equally important. We've seen the Midwest explode with action as the rights of workers are threatened in states such as Wisconsin, Ohio, and elsewhere.

Across the country, across issues, and across constituencies people are taking action -- and we want to continue fueling the fire!

Organized labor has long stood in solidarity with the LGBT community -- in Wisconsin alone, the labor community was among the first to stand against a constitutional amendment banning marriage equality. Government shouldn't be about taking away existing rights -- it should be for expanding equality.

Our allies have been organizing solidarity actions across the country, and MoveOn has nationwide actions planned on Saturday -- we hope you'll consider attending one. Of course, Wisconsin is still the center of this movement to protect worker's rights -- and our friends at Fair Wisconsin have done an awesome job of organizing LGBT support for what's happening there!

Our movement should be working with allied groups to find intersections of inequality and to work together to win equality. This is a chance for us to also highlight the need for worker protections that a federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act would provide. The rights of those who are working to provide for themselves and their families -- regardless of income level, sexual orientation, or gender identity -- should be protected at a federal level. Anything less is unconscionable.

We hope you'll join MoveOn and Fair Wisconsin -- as well as a coalition of almost 40 other organizations [1] -- in standing up for worker's rights this weekend.
