Dear Friend,

Happy New Year!

I am writing to invite you to our annual CAA membership meeting on Thursday, February 4th at the YWCA in San Francisco Chinatown.  I want to get this on your calendar since we have a very special reason to come together.

After co-founding CAA and providing 40 years of consecutive service, Prof. Ling-chi Wang will be retiring from our Board of Trustees this February.  For the past four decades, Ling-chi has been a true scholar activist, helping to lead countless historic efforts to understand, communicate, and campaign for racial and social justice.

To help celebrate this occasion, I'll be joining Ling-chi and hip-hop and social change author and journalist Jeff Chang in a conversation about the past and future of our community and civil rights. Everyone is welcomed.

The meeting is also a time for everyone to get caught up on our current work, for members to elect the 2010 slate of trustees, and for the general public to comment.  Please come with a guest or two - more details below.

Hope to see you there,

[Vincent Pan]
