Dear Supporter,
Have you mailed your ballot yet? Only 20% of ballots have been returned, making your vote that much more important for electing bicycle-friendly candidates. Please consider Cascade's endorsements when voting for a livable city.
King County Executive: Dow Constantine
Bellevue City Council, Position 2: Vicki Orrico
Bellevue City Council, Position 4: Patsy Bonincontri
Bellevue City Council, Position 6: Michael Marchand
Cascade endorsed Dow early this year. He was the first candidate to stress the importance of getting the abandoned BNSF rail line through Bellevue into public ownership. He supports creating a multi-use trail there, much like the Burke-Gilman. Future growth in Bellevue may bring commuter rail, but only if we act soon with regional leaders like Dow to "rail bank" and preserve this crucial corridor.
Patsy Bonincontri was appointed to the City Council last year after 10 years of service on the Bellevue Planning Commission. Patsy is committed to improving the quality of life in Bellevue, and currently represents the city on the regional growth management policy board.
Vicki Orrico is chair of the Planning Commission, tasked with adopting projects like the impressive Bel-Red Corridor Plan and shaping future growth while sensitively responding to neighborhood concerns. We look forward to working more with Vicki.
Michael Marchand brings experience in the public sector as a staffer for former Gov. Gary Locke and business experience at Microsoft. He shares our perspective on livable neighborhoods and would be an excellent addition to the City Council.
Dow, Vicki, Patsy and Michael are candidates who have proven their commitment to building a better Bellevue for our families and our future. If you have a couple of hours or a few dollars to spare, please consider sending them their way.
Also on your ballot - Vote NO on Tim Eyman's Initiative 1033 Under I-1033, as the economy recovers, the state would have to cut services instead of restoring funding for road maintenance or transit. It's bad for bicycling and bad for our communities.
I-1033 is on the bottom left-hand corner of the first page, under the instructions, where it is very easy to overlook. Don't miss your chance to vote NO on I-1033.
Remind your friends! - Your ballot must be postmarked and in the mail or in a County Ballot Drop Box by 8 pm this Tuesday, November 3rd.
Thank you,
